With more than 15 years of experience, Chris is an expert in assisting employers with the creation, implementation and management of comprehensive employee benefit strategies that support the employer’s financial goals as well as the desire to attract and retain top employee talent. Areas of expertise include group health plans (Fully Insured, Partially and Fully Self-funded), dental, life, disability, vision and additional solutions such as critical illness and personal accident.
Chris began his employee benefits career as a Large Group BlueCross sales representative in Charlotte, NC focused on self-funded health insurance strategies for groups with 250 or more employees. In 2006 Chris left the carrier world to become a Benefit Broker with First Charter Bank.
Chris was an early adopter of Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP) strategies leveraging Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
Chris is passionate and knowledgeable about additional “worksite” insurance solutions (Critical Illness, Personal Accident and Hospital Indemnity) that offer employees a personalized level of additional protection against out of pocket expenses when offered alongside the CDHP Health Plans.
Process improvement including payroll, time and attendance, training, benefits administration, self-service enrollment, onboarding, automated carrier data feeds, leave management and Affordable Care Act/IRS reporting requirements is a big area of concentration for Chris.
Compliance is also an area Chris continues to focus on to maintain a trusted advisor role for his clients. COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, 5500 Filings, SBC, SPD, FMLA are all areas of client support.
Data Driven solutions are something Chris enjoys. Chris takes great interest in identifying trends, comparing benchmark data and matching up the right provider access and network discounts.
Chris partners with his clients to develop a wellness strategy that makes sense for their environment and culture. Chris leverages carrier programs, community based, provider based and numerous third party solutions. He is experienced with introducing onsite and shared clinics with nurses having access to claims data that includes carrier provider claims and prescription drugs.
